In our new ‘Experts Eye’ feature we’ll be bringing you the latest on our insight into different venues. This month, Olivia Woolley, National Account Manager, shares her top seven UK venues for meeting spaces.

Aubrey Park

Based in the heart of Hertfordshire, Aubrey Park is located between the historic city of St Albans and the old town of Hemel Hempstead in the boutique village of Redbourn. The location lends itself perfectly for the ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle from city life.

The heritage of Aubrey Park shines through not only the venue itself, but the team as well. Their flexibility and attention to detail are two key aspects that they have always delivered on, providing a consultative approach every step of the way.

When it comes to meetings and events, they’ve carefully thought about the design of their latest space. The Oak Suite, a private self-contained venue with terrace, not only features large glass walls allowing for streams of natural daylight, it’s fit for purpose with its integrated audio-visual sound system and lighting.

Village Hotels

This has to be the Village Hotel Glasgow. It’s recently been added to our preferred hotel programme and it’s located right next to the SSE Hydro and Glasgow Airport. Additional perks from all Village Hotels is that they have their own Starbucks, Spas, Gyms and car parks that are free of charge.

​Genting Resorts

Resorts World Birmingham is a destination like no other. Don’t think of this just as a leisure destination, it’s a perfect location to hold team days, private dining or meetings for up to 900 in their dedicated conference centre – The Vox. The Vox is the only conference venue in the UK to offer 4K resolution screens as well as a giant media wall, moveable Elonex screens and the ability to host hybrid conferencing events. There are two further meeting spaces at The Genting Hotel, both with natural lighting and modern technology.

The Genting Hotel is also home to the Santai Spa & Leisure Club, providing the perfect opportunity to indulge in some of their tailored luxury treatments or to simply unwind at the end of a busy day.

Another reason Genting Resorts is popular for meeting and event planners is that it has its own casino on site. Whether you’re an expert or not, or even just love the thrill of watching others splash the cash, casino has everything you need for your delegates to have a night to remember.

Perfect for… and why…

Located right on the edge of Pendigo Lake, the hotel is a 12-minute walk from the Birmingham International train station. Rooms have free Wi-Fi, smart TVs and Nespresso machines. They have an onsite Casino & 4 Bars plus Fusion bar & grill so there’s always plenty to do to entertain your delegates. Of if you just want to relax you can enjoy the Spa with indoor pool and outdoor hot tub.

Clayton Hotels

Under the Dalata Hotel Group, Clayton Hotels comprise of 21 hotels in the UK and Ireland with their latest addition to the family - the Clayton Hotel Charlemont - located on Dublin’s Grand Canal.

Meetings are made simple with Clayton Hotels and have a venue for every type of event. Between them, Clayton Hotels have 8 large conference venues in well-connected locations including Dublin, London, Belfast, Cork, Galway, Wexford and Sligo that can cater for up to 1,400 delegates. There are also smaller conference venues in Dublin city and suburbs that can cater for up to 300 delegates, which have a large range of conference facilities.

There’s nothing more important (especially for me) is getting a good night’s sleep at the end of a busy day. Something unique to Clayton Hotels their handcrafted beds which are bespoke to the hotels. The pocket sprung, memory foam mattresses will provide any restless traveller with a comfortable and peaceful night’s sleep.

Favourite Clayton Hotel and why…

My favourite Clayton Hotel is the one located in Cardiff. It’s less than a minute walk from Cardiff Central Train Station and the hotel contains a Gym, Bar & Restaurant.

Rooms have free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. It was awarded 'Leisure, Hospitality & Retail Business of the Year 2018' by the Cardiff Business Awards.

Radisson Blu

At last count, Radisson Blu, part of the Radisson Hotel Group, has 380 hotels that are open or coming soon in the UK and popular destinations worldwide. The slogan for Radisson Blu (and what they consider more than a slogan) is YES I CAN! And is the brand ethos for delivering a special service philosophy. They believe that no matter the role in any company, every team member plays a vital part to deliver a memorable guest experience. This brand ethos is rolled out across each of their hotels and is what they believe sets them apart from the competition.

Another hotel recently added to our preferred hotel programme is the Radisson Blu Birmingham. This contemporary high-rise 39 storey hotel with a glass façade right in the heart of Birmingham with spectacular views from the floor to ceiling windows. Park Regis

Another popular Birmingham location for us is the Park Regis. It’s their newest 4* luxury hotel, and is not only their tallest, it’s located in the heart of Birmingham and offers the most stunning views of the Birmingham skyline.

Park Regis have dedicated their 15th floor to meeting space, but more recently added an additional 3 meeting spaces to their 4th floor and converted their top into a new function space - which only opened in June 2018. It’s with the amazing views and diversity in meeting space that make Park Regis an ideal venue for event planners - with their floor to ceiling windows providing the perfect backdrop to inspire their meetings.

Outside of meetings, you can either escape the hustle and bustle of Birmingham City Centre and relax in the tranquillity of their Shakina Urban Spa or take a visit to their well-equipped gym with state-of-the art equipment.

When it comes to food, you can enjoy some of finest cuisine at the Park Regis 1565 Restaurant & Bar that offers an extensive menu. Alternatively, and having only recently opened, enjoy something a little quirkier and embrace the winter season in their brand-new intimate igloo dome on the 1565 Outdoor Terrace.

The views this hotel provides of the skyline for Birmingham is absolutely stunning and being located in the heart of the city centre makes it a perfect venue for great transport links. Their dedicated floor for meeting spaces makes it easy for meeting planners to navigate their delegates to the right room.

Arbor City Hotel London

If you’re in need of a London City Centre Hotel that is in a prime location then Arbor City Hotel London might just be the venue for you… Close to Brick Lane, Spitalfields Market and close to the financial heart of London – it’s a hotel that allows guests to explore as well as enjoy the amenities of the hotel.

Similar to Park Regis Birmingham, this is another hotel that dedicated an entire floor to meetings and events, they even have their own cinema room. This luxurious 30-seater screening room is complete with the next generation of digital cinema technology and 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound and is perfect for keeping any audience captivated and engaged.
