HTS welcomes Amanda Norrie into new training and development manager role
25/01/2022
We're delighted to announce the appointment of Amanda Norrie as our new Training and Development Manager – a new position for the company.
The new role has been created, in part, to upskill those new to the business travel and events industry who have transferable skills and customer service expertise.
Amanda joins us as an experienced Travel and Accommodation Manager from 18 Week Support as Travel & Accommodation Manager and before that was at Click Travel and has an extensive 15 years in business travel background, with notable roles at Malmaison, CTI Corporate Travel International, and Hotelscene.
Julie Shorrock, HTS managing director, explains the rationale behind creating the new position: "Our industry has been through so much change in recent years, and due to the pandemic, businesses saw high levels of redundancies forcing us, like so many others, to lose some experience.
"Our core focus is to provide confidence and service excellence to our clients, and this new role demonstrates HTS can adapt our ways of working and recruiting. As the industry rebuilds, HTS has recruited from outside the industry through the government's Kick Start Scheme and other means. Although these employees have drive and expertise, such as transferable customer service, they need additional training in our industry specifically.
"As our dedicated training and development manager, Amanda can focus on supporting our newest team members with knowledge-building while strengthening the continuous development of our more experienced team members."
Amanda shares her excitement for joining HTS and the value she brings: "It’s an exciting time with the return of business travel after a couple of turbulent years and have an opportunity at HTS to work with clients to enhance their existing travel and meeting programmes. My industry knowledge lends itself well to HTS's goals and to boosting long-term team performance."
